Cedar City
If you’re looking for things to do in Cedar City, Utah this fall, mark your calendar for October 23–25, 2026. The Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival is back for another weekend celebrating the agricultural roots, western heritage and community traditions that make Southern Utah such a special place to call home.
Each fall, Cedar City celebrates the generations of farmers, ranchers and families who helped shape Iron County. The Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival brings that history to life with three days of western events, local entertainment, food, vendors and activities for the whole family.
Don’t Miss the Famous Cedar City Sheep Parade
One of the most unique events in Southern Utah happens Saturday morning when approximately 1,000 sheep make their way down Cedar City’s Main Street as part of their traditional move from summer mountain pastures toward their winter range.
The 2026 Sheep Parade begins Saturday, October 24 at 10:00 AM, traveling along Main Street from approximately 200 South to 400 North.
And it isn’t just sheep! Spectators can also expect horses, wagons, antique tractors, stock dogs, historic and modern sheep camps, youth groups and other entries celebrating Cedar City’s western heritage.
It’s one of those events that feels uniquely Cedar City—and something everyone should experience at least once.
A Full Weekend of Western Heritage
The fun continues throughout the weekend, with many activities taking place at the Cross Hollows Events Center in Cedar City.
Festival events include the Dennis Stowell Memorial Ranch Rodeo, Junior Ranch Rodeo, cowboy poetry and live music, antique tractor and horse pulls, vendors, Dutch oven cooking, art and photography, quilts, vintage cars and more.
The Dennis Stowell Memorial Ranch Rodeo begins Saturday at noon and showcases authentic ranch skills such as team branding, sorting, doctoring and trailer loading.
Cowboy poetry and western music are also scheduled throughout Friday and Saturday, bringing together performers from Cedar City, Parowan and communities throughout Utah.
Celebrating What Makes Cedar City Home
For us, the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival represents much more than a fun weekend.
Southern Utah continues to grow, but events like this are an important reminder of the people, agriculture and traditions that built our community. Cedar City offers something increasingly difficult to find—a place where you can enjoy the amenities of a growing community while still being closely connected to rural living, agriculture, horses, livestock and the outdoors.
Whether you’ve lived in Iron County your entire life, recently moved to Southern Utah, or are visiting Cedar City for the weekend, the Livestock & Heritage Festival is a great opportunity to experience the community beyond the scenery.
Come enjoy Cedar City, support local businesses and celebrate the western heritage that continues to make Iron County such an incredible place to live.
